Tropicana Evansville Casino and hotel is a riverboat casino in Evansville Indiana, which has an attached hotel with 250 rooms. Another 100 room boutique hotel opened in 2006, adding additional restaurants and attractions to the complex. The actually casino boat itself is called the City of Evansville, and was the state of Indiana’s first legal gaming riverboat under the legislature passed in 1993. Like many riverboat casino vessels, the City of Evansville has never actually sailed, and is a replica of an historic racing side-wheel steamboat that existed nearly 130 years before her construction.
The City of Evansville was built by a company called Jeffboat, out of Jeffersonville Indiana. They employed 200 workers to build her which took over a year. The exterior was designed by RA Stern Inc, and was meant to look like she had come straight out of the civil war. Her interior however is pure Las Vegas glamour. She stands on stacks in a concrete basin and weighs a total of 1589 tons. From bow to stern she is 310 feet long.

There are two hotels to choose from should you wish to stay the night or a few night s at Tropicana Evansville. The older hotel the Tropicana Evansville Hotel has 250 rooms and 10 suites. The suites each have a sleeping area, a dining area, a seating area and a large bathroom with a spa tub. The rooms feature coffee service, wireless internet, Italian linen and some rooms are even pet friendly. The Le Merigot Hotel is the newer boutique hotel that has only 100 rooms and personal attention from the staff. All rooms come with micro fleece robes, goose down duvets, Italian linen, flat screen TV’s in both bedroom and bathroom, and multi head showers. Both hotels have fitness centres for hotel guests only.

In 2006 when Tropicana Evansville opened their boutique hotel, they also built a multimillion dollar entertainment area which they named The District just across from the casino boat and adjacent to the hotel. This multi venue entertainment facility is cantered around a riverfront park, and contains a number of restaurants, pubs, bars and lounges. Diners can find a wide range of cuisines, from fine dining to pub grub all with a view of the river. Many of the venues also have live entertainment such as singers or comedians depending on the clientele. A deli is open all day and all night to cater for players and hotel guests who want a quick sandwich or drink. Room service is of course available in all rooms twenty four hours a day too.
